“It’s awesome to compete at such a high level,” St Philomena’s School Moree student and swimmer Bryce Raveneau said.
Bryce, Oscar Davis, Alex Macey, Emily DiDonna and Gabbie Elbourne will weigh in for the Catholic school, competing at their swim events on Friday.
It will mark the first time that Bryce and Gabbie have stepped into the pool at such a competitive level, but Gabbie is determined to make a lasting impression.
“I have been training every morning with my coach Angela Walker, waking up at 5am and hitting the pool at 6am,” she said.

The swimmers will take part in swim events such as breaststroke, freestyle, backstroke and butterfly to compete for first place.
“This is one of the largest groups that St Philoeman’s has sent down to compete at Sydney. We’re excited,” sports coordinator Anna Copedam said.
Anna added she was impressed with the high calibre of the swimmers, saying the competition had another thing coming for them.
“We are the small fish in the bigger scheme of things. This is one of the best groups the school has sent to compete at Sydney.”
Moree Secondary College will also send off 13 of their best swimmers to compete at the same state-level competition, but the students will swim in the public schools division.
Winners from the Catholic colleges and public schools will go onto The All Schools competition.
“I want to say a big thank you to Angela Walker, who has been training three of the five students that we’re sending off to the swimming competition,” Anna said.
