Montgomery has been selected to represent one of two country teams which will play off against two metro sides in the State Challenge, to be held at Cambelltown’s Raby Sports Complex from April 15 to 19.
The challenge will also form the basis of selection for the Under 17 National Championships later in the year.
A NSW metro and country side will be selected for the National Championships.
It’s exciting, but I’m going to be so nervous when I get there.
- Jack Montgomery
Jack isn’t the first Montgomery to play in the Under 16 State Challenge - his older brother Paddy competed in 2016, going a step further to make the NSW Country squad.
“Paddy’s done this and made the NSW Country side, so I was aiming to get this far but wasn’t expecting anything,” Jack said.
The 15-year-old said he’s looking forward to giving it all he’s got in a few weeks.
“It’s exciting, but I’m going to be so nervous when I get there,” he said.
Montgomery was chosen to take part in the State Challenge after competing in the prestigious Bradman Cup at Bathurst in January this year, as part of the Country Championships.
The Moree Junior Cricket player represented Central North in the Bradman Cup after progressing from the Northern Inland side.
