The six-year-old has been a wonderful performer since arriving in the Sinclair stable three years ago as a maiden from Queensland.
He had placed just once in his first eight starts for Robert Heathcote while in the Sunshine State.
But under the guidance of the astute horseman, Dungiven has grown into a top-quality performer through the North-West.
He has won 13 races, including a string of Cup triumphs and more than $60,000 in prizemoney.
The Mallawa Picnic, Wean Picnic, Moree Picnic, Talwood, Talmoi Picnic and St George Cups all sit on the mantlepiece, testament to his quality.
They also illustrate just why Dungiven will carry the top-weight if Sinclair elects to run.
The son of Danroad, who was bred in New Zealand before crossing the Tasman, has not started since finishing 11th, beaten seven lengths in September’s Moree Cup.
It could be a case of father taking on son, with Nathan entering Our Boy Danny.
Our Boy Danny has been nominated for the feature Cup and a Benchmark 45 Handicap run over 1100m, which forms part of the undercard on the six-race non-TAB program.
Nathan boasts a great winning strike-rate whenever he sends one to the races, so look out for Our Danny Boy.
A total of 17 nominations were received for the Binnaway Cup (1300m) with acceptances taken on Thursday morning.
