Local Lion and organiser, Scott Antees, said there would be two times competitors could tee-off; 7.30am or 12 noon.
“It’s the Lions club’s major fundraiser for the year. We’ve recognised that times are tough so the club has decided to make the Golden Grain Festival a biennial event,” he said.
Because of the success of last year’s golf day, the club has decided, in conjunction with the golf club, to keep this aspect of the festival as an annual event.
“The event will be a four-man ambrose with prizes awarded to the first three teams and there’ll be a bradman award for the team that runs last,” Antees said.
There will be meat raffles and prizes for target golf on the seventh hole.
The 2013 princesses will also be there on the day to help out.
“Last year we had 140 people attend the event, and this year we’re hoping for 100 but the more the merrier really. We know it’s a big weekend for the community,” he said.
Close to $60,000 was raised after last year’s festival with more than 90 per cent staying in the local community.
“Everyone is doing it tough so we want to thank our sponsors for supporting us once again, along with the golf club and those in advance who will be teeing off on Sunday.”
Those interested in playing are asked to first book their team in by ringing the golf club pro shop on 6752 1405, or by calling Scott at Moree Ag Supplies on 6752 5112.
“Tickets are $25 and funds raised will be put back into the local community just like previous years,” he said.
