The Year 11 student said she was honoured to have been selected for the leadership position.
“My education at St Margaret’s has allowed me to explore my passions and enabled me to realise my strengths,” she said.
“It has allowed me to challenge and push myself in all aspects of my life while also equipping me with the skills needed to overcome those challenges.
“A particularly rewarding part of being a boarder is meeting girls from all over Australia and the world and developing a bond with these girls. Over the years that I have known these girls, we have grown closer and they have made my boarding experience very memorable.”
Having attended St Margaret’s since Year 8, Annabel is enthusiastically involved in her academic studies as well as the vibrant sporting, music and performing arts life at St Margaret’s.
A keen rower, Annabel capped off this year’s season with a win in the second eight, contributing to St Margaret’s overall score which saw the school take out the Aggregate Cup for Champion School for the third consecutive year.
She also plays touch football, loves to swim and enjoys her involvement in the St Margaret’s water polo team.
Music lover Annabel has also been involved in the past two school musicals – ‘Annie’ and ‘The Sound of Music’, playing clarinet and saxophone in the orchestra pit.
In 2016, Annabel participated in St Margaret’s Global Exchange Program attending St Anne's Diocesan College, Hilton in South Africa for a term.
It seems that Annabel was born to fly with the student having sky high ambitions for her future as well.
“When I leave St Margaret’s I hope to study a Business degree at the Australian Defence Force Academy in Canberra and from there enter the Royal Australian Air Force and become a pilot or air traffic controller,” she said.
Annabel will share the responsibility of the school captaincy with fellow student Xanthe Lowe-Brown.
“As school captain next year, I hope to ensure that everyone feels happy and comfortable at school; that they feel supported by their peers and that everyone feels confident to express themselves and their views,” Annabel said.
St Margaret’s principal Ms Ros Curtis said the students selected for the 2018 senior leadership roles demonstrated a commitment to the school’s mission and values, through both their words and actions.
At the student leadership announcement, Ms Curtis offered words of encouragement to the newly appointed student leaders saying they should “aim to demonstrate self-awareness, self-management, versatility and adaptability; to aspire to excellence, to manage relationships well, communicate with meaning, and through your actions and words, inspire trust”.
