This year marks the 99th anniversary of the armistice which ended World War I at 11am on November 11, 1918.
That moment became associated with the remembrance of those who had died in the war and after World War II, the name was changed to Remembrance Day. Each year Australians observe one minute silence in memory of those who died or suffered in all wars and armed conflicts.
Everyone is invited to attend Moree RSL sub-branch’s Remembrance Day service, which will be held at the memorial window at Moree and District Services Club at 10.45am for a 10.50am start.
Fairview Retirement Village will also be holding their own Remembrance Day service, but will be commemorating early on Thursday, November 9 at 11am.
