Anna was asked to speak to the girls as part of the Girls with a Purpose program, developed by Moree Family Support in conjunction with Moree Secondary College.
The 12-week life skills program is aimed at supporting young girls to develop healthy and authentic self-worth by strengthening their identity and sense of purpose.
Anna said she was honoured to be asked to speak to the girls last week.
It was one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done.

“It was one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done,” she said.
During the talk last Wednesday (September 27), Anna spoke to five girls, aged 12 and 13, about her journey, sharing everything from her own experiences as a young teenager to the new, healthy habits she’s developed since appearing on The Biggest Loser: Transformed earlier this year.
“I didn’t base it on weight-loss, I based it on why I was overweight and spoke about my emotional eating,” she said.
“I thought if I had me stand in front of me at 12 or 13, it would have made a difference; I suffered from acne, I was self-conscious about my weight already, I was always the bigger girl. If I had someone I could have connected to on that level it would have helped me.”
Anna shared facts about food and talked about cooking and the benefits of moving, whether it be through a sport you love or just developing a habit of walking.
She also brought water, pears and apples for the girls to enjoy during the talk, while their teachers supplied fruit platters.
Anna said she hopes if the girls can take away anything from the talk, they focus on being the best they can be.
“I told them ‘I don’t want to be skinny, I want to be fit and healthy’,” she said.
“It’s not all about being skinny, it’s about being the best version of myself.
“I hope they got out of it to have a goal to be the best you can be; the fittest and healthiest and comfortable in your own skin.”
For Anna, the talk was all about giving back to the Moree community, which she plans to continue.
Receiving “hundreds and hundreds” of emails from people asking about food and weight loss, Anna has decided to give a talk at Moree Boxing Academy this Saturday, September 30 to share her journey and tips with the Moree community.
The talk, ‘Crunch-time’ will include tips and hints that Anna uses every day with her weight loss, mindset and how to overcome doubt, setting standards and goals, getting real with how you feel about you, nutrition, food and cooking, as well as a chat with Moree Boxing Academy’s Suzie Treloar.
There will also be an opportunity for a question and answer session with Anna.
“I’ve had so many people wanting to speak to me in Moree,” Anna said.
“I want to help other people and if I can give a light-bulb moment to just one person, I’d be happy.”
The day will also provide an opportunity for people to check out the Moree Boxing Academy, with a free class pass given to all who attend the talk.
Attendees could also win a weight loss food hamper and two weight loss cooking lessons with Anna as part of lucky door prizes.
Everyone is welcome to attend the ‘Crunch-time’ chat which will be held at 10am on Saturday, September 30 at Moree Boxing Academy.
Cost is $5 which will be donated to Moree Boxing Academy to go towards a new sound system.
