Eighty-five riders from around the region raced in Moree on Sunday.
The Moree Motorcycle Club hosted a Club Day and were proud to showcase a perfect track.
Motocross riders travelled from Dalby, Brisbane, Inverell, Narrabri, Quirindi and Tamworth to compete in the 10 classes on offer.
President Rory Johnson said the event was well-supported.
“The track was prime to perfect, the best it has been in quite a while therefore all riders on the day had outstanding runs,” he said.
The four senior classes A, B, C and over 35s were a standout for the good crowd of spectators on Sunday.
Other classes included the junior lites, 85s, 65s, 50s, recreational and recreational pit bikes.
Everyone was able to race well above their normal ability.
“There was some good racing in all classes on the weekend. Everyone was able to race well above their normal ability. The junior lites were awesome,” he said.
Johnson said another highlight of the event was increased participation in junior classes.
“The 50s class had 14 riders on Sunday where they usually only have two or three. It’s good to see more juniors coming through the ranks, not only for the sport but for the community.”
The support from spectators, both local and visiting added a special vibe to the day.
Moree Motorcycle Club will host another club day in two weeks time and have started preparing for the Coolatai Pony Express in early July.
“We usually see around 250 riders from all over head to Coolatai for the event.”
The club also hope to host an event for the girls later on in the year.
“Not only will it be great for the sport and the local girls who ride, but it should be good for the town too with some special visitors.”
