Adam was brought to the attention of breakfast television show Sunrise, when one of their staff was driving through Moree and happened to hear Adam on the radio.
Most people in Moree would have heard Adam’s familiar voice on Now FM – he calls up every day (except Fridays) requesting a song for the drive-thru request, always dedicating it to all his friends, including Greg, the Arvo Show host.
As a result of hearing one of his calls, a crew from Sunrise spent five hours in Moree on Wednesday filming Adam for a story.
The Sunrise crew filmed Adam at his two jobs – McDonalds and Gwydir Industries – as well as at the Now FM studio and down the main street.
“It was awesome,” Adam said.
“I’m a bit famous.”
Since Wednesday Adam hasn’t stopped signing autographs and said he’s going to have to start charging people soon.
Most people in Moree would agree that Adam is more than deserving of all this attention.
McDonalds manager Ashton Haddad said it’s great to get Moree on the map for good publicity.
“I think it’s very well deserved – he does an amazing job and is a credit to the store,” he said.
“Customers just love him because he does such great service. He opens doors, takes trays to tables – McDonalds only recently introduced table service but Adam’s been doing it for years.”
Adam is McDonalds’ longest-serving employee, marking 10 years with the store this year.
He is very passionate about his role in customer service and is well-known for opening the door for customers and greeting them with a big happy smile.
“I take out the holds for drive-through and if they eat here I tell them to sit down and I bring their order out to them for table service,” Adam said.
“I make sure they’re happy, make sure their meals are correct, the table is wiped down before they sit down and make sure they’re comfortable.
“I love it. It’s good pay, good people, good managers – I love helping people.”
When he’s not working at McDonalds, Adam can be found at Gwydir Industries where he works three days a week making bales of cardboard.
Adam has been at Gwydir Industries for 17 years and said he loves it except when “there’s too much cardboard”.
“One day we had over 939 bales we had to do,” he said.
The 34-year-old has been a Moree resident since he moved from Sydney at the age of 12.
He has lots of friends here, who he enjoys going out partying with. He also goes to church on Sundays, youth group Saturdays and plays darts on Thursdays.
“Nearly the whole of Moree is my friend,” he said.
Adam would like to thank everyone in the Moree community for supporting him.
He hopes everyone will tune in to Weekend Sunrise on channel seven to watch him.
Adam’s story is set to air between 8.30am and 9am on Sunday, June 25.
