The town’s biggest annual event is just around the corner on April 28 and 29.
President Brendan Munn said the ute show was something different the society decided to fund for 2017.
“They will perform a few challenges in their V8s and we’ve heard there may be some sort of relay with some utes and horses, so we’ll have to see what they have in store for us,” he said.
The five shows will be spread across Friday and Saturday.
Country music singer Amber Lawrence will perform on Saturday afternoon before the grand parade.
Mr Munn said Lawrence had just launched her new album The Kid’s Gone Country and was looking forward to interacting with the local crowd.
“We have a few new things this year including a new entrance gate, which is directly at the end of Gosport St and 100 metres east of the current entrance,” he said.
Another new feature will be a set of toilets on the eastern side of the showground, funded by Moree Plains Shire Council.
“Our horse competitors will be busy for the whole two days, but they also have some new stables – or should I say palaces? – over at the north-east corner.”
But it wouldn’t be the Moree Show without the more traditional events.
“Our woodchop has been very popular so it’ll be in the same place as usual, and of course on Friday night we’ll have the Gill Bros here for the rodeo,” Mr Munn said.
Entry for the rodeo will be $10 for a jam-packed night of entertainment from 6pm.
Three pavilions will give show-goers a lot to browse through and admire, from flower arrangements to photography, cooking, produce and plenty more.
The animal farm, pet show and horse events will ensure all four-legged friends will be involved in the 2017 show.
And of course, sideshow alley will have plenty of rides, slides and games to keep all ages entertained.
“This year we are trying to keep things affordable and fun, so it will be a $5 entry each day,” he said.
About 2.30pm on Saturday, the show opening will be hosted by member for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall, followed by the grand parade at 3pm.
“Adam’s been a great supporter of the show and is always good to have around.”
To finish the jam-packed two days will be the demolition derby.
