“Several of our junior members have been playing in the North West Junior Development Series which sees them travel all over the region, playing a very high standard of tennis,” Moree Junior Tennis head coach Margie Buckley said.
“As a result, the standard of tennis in Moree has improved enormously and we are seeing some very talented juniors moving through the ranks.”
One of these talented juniors is Camille Maunder selected to compete in the NSW JDS state finals in Sydney on November 12-14 after finishing as the top-ranked seed for the north west 10/U girls. Camille played in a pool of four girls, winning two of her three games in the state final.
Unfortunately Camille didn’t make it to the play-off, but Ms Buckley said it was a great achievement to win two games against some of the best players in the state.
She said Camille has been playing some of her best tennis this year, winning the 10 years and under and 12 years and under singles in the Moree Junior Tennis championships and achieved many personal goals.
Moree Junior Tennis wrapped up the year with a championships competition and presentation evening on Friday, October 14. More than 40 entrants played in a total of 18 events for the Moree Junior Tennis Championships. Ms Buckley said all the juniors displayed wonderful sportsmanship and tennis.
