This year soil compaction and nutrition are the two primary areas covered on the popular field day.
“Better understanding of soil compaction and fertility are essential for being more sustainable and profitable,” Co-ordinator Mr Darryl Bartelen said.
“At the field day, we are privileged to have key researchers who will provide useful information to assist growers with better management decisions.
“We will have soil pits dug in paddocks and will be discussing both the nutritional and structural aspects of our soils.
“We will look at compaction and the impact machinery can have,” Mr Bartelen said.
This year Tulloona will again include an in-field review of the cereal, Faba bean and chickpea National Variety Trials where growers will hear from breeders about new varieties.
There will be an opportunity to hear how Australia’s first fully autonomous tractor has performed over the last 12 months and to see the TPOS Flat Track renovator.
The day begins at 7a.m. with breakfast at “Beefwood Farms” on the Newell Highway, approximately 70km south of Goondiwindi.
“Tulloona is a great grower organised field day which has been running for more than 20 years,” Mr Bartelen said.
“The field day provides not only an opportunity to see new varieties and technologies, hear research updates, but it also gives growers and consultants an opportunity to network and discuss what they are doing in their operations,” he said.
