Following on from the final round of the JDS tournament, which was held in Moree on Sunday, August 7, eight Moree players have qualified for the Champions of Champions where they will compete against the top players from the north west and north east regions.
Sara Campbell, Chloe Flegerbein, Logan Thrift, Camille Maunder, Bella Brazel, Lauren Appleby, Georgina Quinlan and Georgia Maunder from Moree will be competing for a spot in the state finals.
“The juniors have worked hard all year to be invited to the Champion of Champions,” Moree tennis coach Margie Buckley said.
“I wish them all the best and I'm very proud of them.”
At a seeding event last weekend in Tamworth, Camille Maunder was ranked the top seed for the north west 10/U girls leading in to the Champions event, while her younger sister Georgia was seeded second in the 8/U girls.
The Champions of Champions event is the culmination of this year’s JDS tournaments, held throughout the north west region.
Moree hosted the last tournament of the season on Sunday, August 7, with about 90 competitors from Moree, Gunnedah, Tamworth, Glen Innes, Armidale, Narrabri and Inverell competing.
“It was a great success,” Ms Buckley said.
