The minor premiers missed out on going straight through to the second grade grand final in the major semi in Tamworth, losing 14-12 to the Pirates.
Second grade coach Peter Copeman said while the loss was disappointing, having the opportunity to play an extra game next weekend could be beneficial for the side, who have had the previous three weeks off.
“For us it was probably a good thing; we would have only had one game in five weeks if we won,” Copeman said.
“Although we’ve still got to win next week.”
Copeman said his side spent the majority of the game defending against Tamworth.
“Our set plays didn’t go as well as we would have liked, we only had about 20 per cent of the ball,” he said.
“But our defence was good.
“We did pretty well I thought.”
Lachlan Smith and Sandy Bailey were standouts.
The Bulls second grade side will play the Narrabri Blue Boars in Narrabri this Saturday, August 27 for a spot in the grand final against the Pirates.
