“Sponsor’s day is an opportunity to thank sponsors for the work they do throughout the year, it would be impossible to do what we do without them,” Moree Bulls president Paul King said.
Moree and Narrabri drew the game with Moree defending their line down to the last minute.
Moree try scorers were Ben Carrigan, Angus Boileau and Kyle O’Connor, with Carrigan converting two tries and scoring two penalties.
“Mat Wannan was brilliant on Saturday, and has been all season, Ben Leg had a great game on the wing, with Alex Corlis strong in the centre as per usual,” Paul said.
“I was most impressed with the boys effort on Sunday, it was a great game.”
Coach Simon Hall agreed with Andrew Mcnamara and Kyle O'connor his picks for the game where he believes his players stuck to the plan.
“We identified that we wanted to start the game well, and we scored points first which we haven't done in the past,” Simon said.
“When we had the ball in hand we played really well and we were able to control possession and get over the advantage line.”
“Unfortunately in set pieces, including scrums and line outs we handed Narrabri back possession at different points in the game.
Overall he believes that the Bulls had possession at crucial times, including the last five, nail-biting minutes of the game.”
“We were in a position to score points to go ahead but we couldn't quite convert that pressure into points,” Simon said.
With Narrabri leaders in the competition, the Bulls coach believes the weekend's game is a sign of good things to come.
The Bulls have two more games before finals, playing Tamworth Pirates this weekend in Tamworth, before returning home the following weekend for Ladies Day where they will take on Inverell.
The Bulls have had bad luck with home games scheduled on the same days as Moree, Mallawa and Talmoi races as well as the Moree Show.
The next home game will be July 30, at Weebolla Oval.
