Men’s Shed members Ron Baker, Peter Sampson and Keith Hovenden (who was unavailable) collaborated between 25-30 hours on the marimba to help improve the learning of students at the Christian School.
Men’s Shed president, Ron Baker, said it was a wonderful feeling to have completed the marimba.
“Now it is complete, as part of our service to the community, we would like to donate the marimba to the school,” Mr Baker said.
“It is our contribution to the students and the community.”
Christian School principal, Noel Kramer, said they were not expecting the donation and felt very blessed.
“We are amazed at the effort that the Men’s Shed have put into the marimba,” Ms Kramer said.
“We are a small central school so to have something like this donated to us is huge.
“The Men’s Shed have done a fantastic job and we are definitely going to tell more people about the Men’s Shed and the work that they do.”
Christian School music teacher, Lyn Lockrey, said they previously only had two marimbas that were not meeting the demand by students.
“Only six students can play on the two that we have and now we have an extra which will allow more students to learn at the same time.”
The Men’s Shed is also making a second marimba that will also be used by the school.
