Before you get too excited - or worried - remember the U stands for unidentified. We’re not sure what it was. Local, Garry Binge, sighted the UFO after taking a break from his painting.
“I took a break about 5.20am when I noticed something different in the sky,” Mr Binge said.
“I thought it was a star at first but when I got a closer look at it, it looked a lot like a UFO. “I took a photo of it and could see a full circle and a smaller inner circle.
“I also took a photo of the moon at the same time to show that it wasn’t a full moon.”
On Wednesday, the moon was at crescent therefore verifying the object was not the moon. A CSIRO representative said there were many reported UFO sightings.
“The overwhelming majority can be explained as a sighting of an aircraft, satellite, weather balloon, planet, comet, meteor, or some kind of atmospheric phenomenon. Of course, not every single sighting can be easily explained in this way, and so some mystery remains.
“Astronomers think there are about one hundred thousand million stars in our Galaxy (the Milky Way), and about one hundred thousand million galaxies in the visible universe.
“We are finding more and more evidence for planets around other stars in our galaxy, and so many astronomers think that it is highly likely that there are some forms of life elsewhere in the Universe.
“However, the distances to other stars, and other galaxies, are immense, so the odds of a more advanced civilisation visiting the Earth appear to most astronomers to be exceedingly unlikely,” he said.
