The event will be held this Friday, July 31 in conjunction with ‘National Homelessness Week’ which runs August 3-7.
Community and support worker, Giselle Cartridge, said the sleep-out was to raise awareness about homelessness in Moree.
MAHS helps people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, which includes services such as the women’s refuge and Moree Family Support youth worker.
Their services include a meals program, food packages, emergency accommodation and blankets, and it also services the Mungindi area.
“We help five new people every week and service 100 people each month,” community and support worker, Joanne Williams said.
The money raised from the sleep-out will go back into the Moree community and helping those in need.
“It can be very difficult to find somewhere safe from all the elements, especially in winter,” Miss Cartridge said.
Mrs Williams said anyone could attend.
“The Girl Guides will be joining us as well as some of the local police officers.”
Anyone is allowed to join the sleep-out, and you can nominate your boss.
The event will be held at MAHS, 294 Warialda Street from 6pm Friday until 6am the following morning.
Food will be provided on the night.
