Bulls president, Simon Dunlop, said the Bulls’ side swapped subs around every 10 minutes during the game against Goondiwindi’s first grade side.
“We took a large group up so that everyone could have a run before the season kicks off. Everyone had a chance to see how their fitness was fairing but Gundy won pretty easily,” he said.
Dunlop said the trial against the Emus showed the Bulls would be in for a “tough” season, but would still fare well on the ladder.
“We’re confident that our season will be successful. We’re in a good position, we have good numbers and our second grade is hoping to keep the premiership.
“Our first grade has higher aims than finishing third place like last season,” he said.
There is no under 18s side this year as Farrer Memorial Agricultural High School has decided not to enter a side to play under the Bulls for the 2015 season.
“Our first game for the season is against Walcha in Walcha on April 11 and our first home game is against Gunnedah on April 18. On April 18, the Croppa Creek Crows will come down and have a run,” he said.
Dunlop said he was hoping the Bulls would start the season on a high, to add some early-season wins under their belt.
“We know Walcha are a good side so it’ll be a tough first game, but we are quietly confident.”
