Moree Family Support and those who helped out should be proud of their efforts.
There were over 70 gifts given to local children to assist in relief of financial strain during the Christmas period.
Moree has always been known as a town that bands together when someone is in need and the hamper drive was a perfect example of this.
Not only did businesses donate money to purchase food for the hampers, but also gave products and staff gave their personal time to deliver hampers to the seniors.
Although the hamper numbers were down from previous years, the amount of community support was up.
A new group of helpers, the Motor Enthusiasts Club, even decided not to do Secret Santa but instead donated $600 to the cause, which really helped.
Organisers hope the drive continues to grow in interest and in the number of hampers made and delivered for 2015’s Christmas.
This was a great story to boost the Christmas spirit, and there are many more within the community.
Whilst everyone winds down, and enjoys their summer holidays we hope that everyone continues to support local businesses and make the most of Moree’s beautiful sights, facilities and shops.
