This was the second last event in the Northern Inland Order of Merit Series.
The Northern Inland Order of Merit, which has consisted of 13 events throughout the year comes to a conclusion this weekend at the Glen Innes Junior Open.
In Tamworth, Darcy Carroll was named runner-up in the overall junior boys with a score of 75.
Carroll has an unattainable lead in both the 18-hole boys scratch and nett events, but unfortunately he can only win one so he will win the scratch event.
Annabelle Abrahamsen won the nine-hole junior girls section with a great score of 54.
This was a pleasing result for the young golfer who only took up the sport about 12 months ago.
She is coming second in the junior girls nine holes and will need to win this weekend to be any chance of claiming the order of merit.
Abrahamsen missed the Ashford event earlier in the year which was worth double points so it has been a fine effort to still have a chance to win with one round to go.
Rhys Devney came fourth in the junior boys nine holes with a 58 and Luke Devney won the junior boys five holes, this being his first year participating in this particular series.
Rhys Devney is leading the junior boys nine-hole order of merit and will be very hard to run down.
The brothers have been practising by hitting balls in their spare paddock constantly (and using the mower to collect them to try and avoid the heat).
“It’s a challenge, and it’s good to play on different courses and meet new friends,” Rhys said.
Breanna Purse finished third in the girls overall.
Purse is also leading both the girls 18-hole scratch and nett event which will go down to the wire at Glen Innes.
Moree head professional, Matt McGuire said all the Moree juniors had done exceptionally well this year, both in their performances and the way they represent the club.
