The funding is to be utilised for the purchase of a specialised air mattress for the palliative care unit of the hospital and additional items for the oncology ward.
The funds have been raised by the staff of Rhodes Kildea over a period of about three years.
The money was raised through various fundraising events including cooking nights at the Croppa Creek Bowling Club, sausage sizzles at election days, cake stalls, staff mufty days and staff morning teas.
There was no question these funds would go to palliative care and oncology as these units have provided wonderful care to both staff of Rhodes Kildea and their families.
The fundraising was particularly in remembrance of long serving and highly respected staff member, the late Michelle Peachey.
Acute health service manager Bronwyn Cosh, said it was because of community groups such as Rhodes Kildae that the Moree hospital was able to purchase items that provided extra comfort to patients.
Rhodes Kildea’s staff continue their fundraising efforts with the most recent funds raised from a cooking night at Croppa Creek to be donated to Gwydir Mobile Pre-School and the Moree Men’s Shed.
