After 15 years associated with the club, co-coach Josh Connell finished on a high with his side defending stoutly for the final 10 minutes as they clung to a four-point lead.
In a see-sawing contest, both sides exchanged early penalty goals before settling in to a high-quality contest which yielded just the one try.
Pirates were ruled to have knocked on over the line in the far corner with just four minutes remaining before the Bulls defended their line as the siren sounded to register a heart-stopping victory.
Speaking at the post-game presentation, captain Mick Grant said they were looking forward to celebrating long and hard tonight.
"Josh and Kingy have done an awesome job all year. We're going to miss you, Josh," he said.
"We’ll have to borrow a ute to get all the silverware home!"
