That was the news to come from the weekend’s event according to president, Kevin Rigby.
A total of 22 standards, six buggies and eight modifieds took on the conditions at the rec grounds in front of a big crowd on Sunday.
“Everyone involved were kept extremely busy; when one race finished another would start almost immediately,” he said.
“We’ll look to start on Saturday afternoon next year, but that is dependent on vehicles. It means we won’t finish quite as late as we did on Sunday this year.
“It just takes the pressure off everyone.”
Rigby said the conditions were testing for the competitors, in particular the first-timers in the buggy class, where many required help from the tractors to pull them out of trouble.
“About four weeks ago we had virtually no water and no puddles, so last week’s rain helped. The good drivers were able to get their way through, while the bad ones didn’t, which is what you want.”
In the buggy class, Havin’ A Go was the overall winner on the day while Yeti and Liddle Devil completed the top three.
The Judge won the modified section ahead of Here We Go and Hershey, while Sugar Daddy won the standards ahead of Yowie and Who’s Your Daddy.
Who’s Your Daddy was awarded the standard car of the year while Hershey won the award for modified car of the year.
“It was a hard day for everyone, but the crowd was great and everyone enjoyed themselves at the barbecue and band at the Golden Grain Hotel on Saturday night,” Rigby said
