Hanji Bro and Little Hulla will aim for success in the maiden class and Fernando has high hopes for the two, especially Hanji Bro who will race in the maiden plate race seven.
“I took Hanji Bro to Gunnedah a few weeks ago and he ran sixth but I thought he went better than that,” Fernando said.
“Now it’s just really nice to give them a run at home.”
Moree Race Club secretary Michelle Gobbert said nominations closed yesterday which indicated Peter Sinclair was going to race Tapakeg in the feature race.
“We’ve got 119 nominations and six of the seven races are going to be full fields which is what we’ve come to expect,” she said.
The Nathan Sinclair-trained Playa and Campbell Roberts-trained Counterspy have also been nominated.
Gobbert said the July TAB race day was usually a good one and the feature race would have 12 starters.
“The fields are typical for what we would expect, but it’s also pleasing to get a few Queensland trainers who come down,” she said.
“Dungiven has also been nominated in the benchmark 50 handicap and he’s been in good form.”
The day will have free entry with the first race to start at 12.55pm and the last to commence at 4.35pm.
“We encourage people to come in if they get the chance,” Gobbert said.
