The cold, blustery conditions contributed to the crowd being down on previous years, but ladies day organiser Sophie Evans said it was still a successful event.
“It probably wasn’t as big as last year, but profits were up,” she said. “It’s difficult to compare last year to this year because we had signed players’ jerseys we raffled, we didn’t have this year.”
Four items were auctioned for a total of just over $2400 with Kate and Simon Goodhew winning the main prize of a holiday to Murwillumbah.
A half-hour helicopter ride was won by Mal Grow, Brad Cogan bought the football signed by the Wallabies’ 2010 side and Lydia Wannan and nine of her friends won the pamper package.
All girls were treated to nibblies and $2 champagne throughout the day and Ms Evans said most people were generous with what they bought.
“We’d like to thank the generous donors for helping the day become a success,” Ms Evans said.
“With the drought, people are wary of spending too much money, but we know everyone enjoyed themselves from the big mess that was left for us to clean-up on Sunday,” she laughed.
