THEY started off slow and conceded the first try but it wasn’t long before Moree clicked into gear and ran away with a comprehensive 47-14 victory over Walcha on Saturday.

The win ensures the Bulls remain on top of the Central North rugby ladder by a point heading into this weekend’s tough trip to Inverell.
They currently sit on 15 points with Narrabri breathing down their necks on 14, but coach Damien Kelly said there was still room for improvement.
“We still didn’t play perfect but it was the best we’ve played so far this year,” he said.
“It’s certainly good looking down from the top and we knew a good start to the season was important due to the new structure. A few more wins and we’ll be secure in that top tier.”
Kelly said despite trailing 7-0 early his side never panicked and felt comfortable throughout the match.
“It was probably a bad defensive miss at the start but it got us talking. No-one goes out there to deliberately miss tackles and then we went back to what we do best,” he said.
As has been the case in all of Moree’s games so far, the Bulls gave the ball plenty of air early but came up with some uncharacteristic errors at times, before the forwards started to dominate.

“We threw a few silly passes but we always like to test the water a bit early on,” Kelly said.
“We probably should start a bit tighter and then throw the ball around later when the spaces open up, but if something isn’t working we’ll go back to what we do best.”
The Bulls’ coach said he was happy with the way his side looked after the ball at the breakdown.
“We played well as a pack, our driving mauls were good and our pick and go was effective.”
Kelly said while it was disappointing to concede a couple of tries he was happy with the defensive application.
“We’d like to keep a clean sheet but we know that’s not usually going to happen.
“It’s our goal to go one better this season and go through undefeated."
