Walcha travels to Weebolla Oval with the hope of doing what no other side has done for over a year - return home victorious.
The Bulls have started the season with two wins but coach Damien Kelly says they’ve still got plenty of room for improvement.
That’s enough to send shudders through the rest of the competition after they snuck home over surprise packets Gunnedah in their last start.
“The first two games we haven’t been happy with our performance,” Kelly said.
“We only played for half a game in the opening round and we didn’t defend well against Gunnedah and let too many points in.”
With blockbuster matches against Pirates and Narrabri looming on the horizon Kelly said it was important to remain focussed.
“We need to win our home games and we know Walcha are a dangerous side. They’ve got an extremely sharp backline. They’ve beaten us here before and they’ve got some very handy imports.”
The Rams have started the season with successive losses to Gunnedah and Inverell but Kelly said the Bulls weren’t taking any notice of those performances.
“They’re a better side than that.”
At the time of going to print the Champion was awaiting confirmation about a second grade match involving Moree and Narrabri after Narrabri’s opponents forfeited.
The match would not be for points and would kick off at 1.30pm.
First grade kicks off at 3.15pm.
