Work commitments have prevented Aitken from preparing to her maximum ability, but she is still going to head there this weekend full of confidence.
“I haven’t really prepared at all,” she said.
“I’m only 90 per cent confident I can go and perform well, but I’ve been restricted to probably only about an hour and a half on my bike in the last couple of weeks, which isn’t ideal.
“It’s hard to find time to prepare when you’re working all the time, but I’m 100 per cent focussed and I’ve been there before so I know what to expect.”
After being involved in the sport for the last 13 years she has already had plenty of success and memories to last a lifetime, including a trip to America in 2012.
“I went there on a vacation in May 2012 and took a lot out of it,” she said.
“You learn a lot about the different things you can eat, different training schedules and experiencing different tracks. I enjoyed myself a lot over there.”
Aitken participated in all three motocross rounds last year culminating in a second place overall in New South Wales which enabled her to qualify for this year’s titles.
It could prove to be vital experience in the long run.
This year her one and only race prior to this weekend was at the start of the year before those work commitments took hold.
She said family friends Yvonne McNamara and David Menzies had provided her with plenty of support.
“You don’t really have a wide support network outside of your family but they’ve contributed $1000 which has helped me out so much.”
The next round of the state titles takes place in Port Macquarie over the June long weekend.
