Residents of both Lismore and Nimbin have been asked to conserve water and the sewage system has been heavily disrupted by the major flood event impacting the region.

Residents of Lismore and Nimbin have been asked to conserve water and reduce their use of sewage systems.

The current flooding in Lismore and Nimbin, and associated power outages, have affected the local council's water supply and sewage systems.

Residents have been asked to conserve water as much as possible as the council is currently unable to replenish water reservoirs.

Nimbin has about 24 hours of water supply left based on normal usage rates and residents are asked to conserve water.

Similarly, the sewage treatment plants at South Lismore and East Lismore are not fully operational and have been severely affected by the current events.

The East Lismore treatment plant is completely inundated and repairs cannot be undertaken until floodwaters recede.

The South Lismore treatment plant is not receiving sewage as power outages mean that sewer pump stations are not operating.
