* Quarantine will be a thing of the past for fully vaccinated international arrivals in NSW from November.

* NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet on Friday announced international travellers won't have to isolate upon arrival in the state if they are fully vaccinated and test negative for the virus on departure and arrival.

* Prime Minister Scott Morrison supported the state government decision but has limited its initial scope to citizens, permanent residents and their immediate families, despite Mr Perrottet insisting tourists would be included.

* Sydneysiders will be unable to travel to the regions until November 1, with a ban remaining despite being slated to lift when the state hit 80 per cent full vaccination coverage.

* There were 399 new local COVID-19 cases diagnosed in NSW in the 24 hours to 8pm on Thursday, along with four more deaths.

* Fully vaccinated people from NSW will be able to travel to Victoria before Melburnians can visit the regions, in what has been described as an "anomaly" as both states open up.

* The Victorian government on Friday announced doubled-dosed people from "red zones" such as Greater Sydney will be able to enter Victoria without quarantining for 14 days from 11.59pm on October 19.

* Victoria reported 2179 new cases on Friday, a slight drop on Thursday's record daily tally, and six deaths.

* Another 34 cases were recorded in the Mildura region, prompting a seven-day lockdown extension of the northwest Victorian township and surrounds.

* Hobart and southern Tasmania has been forced into a snap three-day lockdown after a coronavirus-infected NSW man entered the state illegally and escaped hotel quarantine.

* Canberrans have been warned not to travel over the border into regional NSW, despite the ACT coming out of lockdown, as it reported 35 new COVID-19 cases.

* Queensland will move to reassess the NSW border restrictions after the southern state announced it would scrap mandatory quarantine for vaccinated international travellers.

* South Australia won't rush to follow NSW and open its borders to international travellers, Premier Steven Marshall vowed.

* The Northern Territory government is pushing ahead with its plan to ease COVID-19 restrictions without consulting the Doherty Institute modelling it previously said was needed to make an informed decision.

AUSTRALIAN VACCINATION NUMBERS:

* There have been 31,994,741 doses administered in the national COVID-19 vaccination rollout up to Thursday, including 315,359 in the previous 24 hours.

* Of the total, 18,694,211 have been administered by the Commonwealth (an increase of 209,540 in the previous 24 hours).

* 13,300,530 have been administered by the states and territories, including 105,819 in the previous 24 hours.

* Nationwide, 84 per cent of people aged over 16 have received one vaccine dose while 66.3 per cent are fully vaccinated.

AUSTRALIAN CORONAVIRUS NUMBERS:

* Australia reported 2613 local cases on Friday: 2179 in Victoria, 399 in NSW, and 35 in the ACT.

* There were also two hotel quarantine cases: one each in NSW and Queensland.

* The national death toll is 1505: Victoria 951, NSW 514, Tasmania 13, WA 9, Queensland 7, ACT 9, and SA 4. (Two Queensland residents who died in NSW have been included in the official tolls of both states).

GLOBAL CORONAVIRUS NUMBERS:

* Cases: at least 239,610,000.

* Deaths: at least 4,882,000.

* Vaccine doses administered: at least 6,576,471,000.
