The girls where beaten but not disgraced, according to president, Todd Mitchell. He said the North Tamworth ladies had been the bench mark of league tag for a number of years and showed they will again be one of the teams to beat. "The Moree girls have a young team, a lot different to years gone by and will take some time to adjust to a lot stronger competition," Mitchell said. "The girls will get better and they are a very important part of our club."
Meanwhile, reserve grade where beaten 22-18 in a game that could have gone either way. The side was effected by injuries to first grade, but showed a lot of character and spirit to be in the game right to the end. Adrian and Kayden Smith showed what great futures they have. "They are two young boys who show no fear and play well above their age," Mitchell said. Alex Barker once again steered the boys around the field and teamed up with his old mate Luke Raveneau. "All the players dug deep and played with great spirit, it's always hard to single players out. A big shout out to Cocky who is doing a great job with these boys."

In the first grade clash, the Boars went down 34-18 in a hard fought match. Norths skipped out to a 12-nil lead early. At half time the score was 12-4 to Norths. The first 20 minutes of the second half saw the Boars dig deep and at the 20-minute drink break the scores were locked at 18 all and the momentum seemed to be with the Boars. The Boars were held up over the line on two occasions and bundled in to touch at the corner post on another occasion which could have easily put Moree ahead, however fatigue and injuries started to take their toll and having only two on the bench for the second half a lot of players had to play big minutes. Marshall Barker played around 70 minutes and Hayden Wiblen around 60 minutes, both big efforts from front rowers. "Thanks to Adrian Smith, Kaiden Smith and Luke McDonald who sat on the bench after playing big minutes in reserve grade to back-up first grade and all showed why they are our future," Mitchell said.
"While all grades went down, we still held our heads high and showed great support for one another. The spirit in the club is the best I have seen for a number of years. Most importantly the discipline we have been showing in the first five weeks of the season on the field, and on the sideline is tremendous," Mitchell added.
