Alexander is a local farmer with strong ties to the Moree Picnic Races.
His father Matthew is a past president, and mother Catherine has also been a generous contributor to the committee over the years, and Alexander himself is a well-seasoned race goer.
He said he was excited to be taking over the reigns of such a highly regarded, and historic, event for the region.
"After the past 12 months of Covid restrictions, and drought before that, Moree is prime for some celebration and the Moree Picnics are the first event on the social calendar - so it's going to be one hell of a party," Alexander said.
In line with the anticipation of the return of picnic racing, Alexander said an extravaganza had been organised by the committee, with entertainment by highly acclaimed musician Lisa Hunt, a highlight.
The event, to be held Saturday, May 29, also includes a strong racing program, calcutta and fashions on the field. The evening's dinner dance will be catered by Relish Catering, Narrabri with entertainment by the amazing Lisa Hunt.
"It's a huge honour to be leading such a great committee, and to help ensure The Moree Picnics' rich legacy in history and its strong future - and of course to provide the community with some much-needed fun."
And it's congratulations all round in the Madden household, with Alexander, together with wife Annie, recently welcoming their first child, Zara, who will start her presidency training in the next few months.
