After 12 years as a councillor, including eight years as deputy mayor, Mrs Price announced at last Thursday's council meeting that she had handed in her resignation to general manager Lester Rodgers.
Earlier this year, Mrs Price and her husband had retired to Toowoomba to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
However, she remained on as a councillor, "determined" to fulfil her duties until council elections in September this year.
And, despite being stuck in Queensland due to border closures as a result of COVID-19, Mrs Price still attended council meetings via video link.

But with local government elections now extended for another year until September 2021 as a result of COVID-19, Mrs Price has decided to step down from the role.
"I feel I can't do the job I was elected to do," she explained to her fellow councillors during the council meeting on Thursday.
"It has been an honour and a privilege to serve on Moree Plains Shire Council as a councillor for 12 years.
"It's been a pleasure working with each and every one of you.
"I wish you every success in all the things that are going to happen."
Mayor Katrina Humphries, who was elected to council in the same year as Mrs Price, said she will be missed.
"You've done a champion job," Cr Humphries said to Mrs Price.
"You've been an absolute champion for our community with the Inland Rail and you've been a wonderful representative for your community of Mungindi.
"It's been a wonderful 12 years. When Sue and I first came into council, we ended up as mayor and deputy mayor. It's been an absolute privilege to have had you as a part of our Moree Plains Shire.
"You've made lifelong friends in this council.
"On behalf of all of us, we absolutely love you, we respect the work you've done enormously and above all, we've had a lot of fun."
General manager Lester Rodgers said a procedural report will be brought to the next council meeting on December 10 for councillors to decide what to do with the vacancy moving forward.
