Earlier this month, Trans4m Rail was awarded the contract to deliver construction of the first phase of work for this section, which involves the upgrade of 171 kilometres of existing rail line between Narrabri and North Star.
Trans4m Rail is now looking to appoint local sub-contractors and workers for certain parts of the construction works and next week will be holding information sessions at North Star, Moree and Narrabri for locals to learn more about regional employment and supply opportunities.

'Meet the Contractors' sessions will be held at North Star Sporting Club from 5pm to 7pm on Monday, November 30, at the Max Centre Moree on Tuesday, December 1 from 7.30am to 9am, 10.30am to 12pm and 5.30pm to 7pm, and at the Crossing Theatre in Narrabri on Wednesday, December 2 from 7.30am to 9am, 10.30am to 12pm and 5.30pm to 7pm.
Moree mayor Katrina Humphries is urging locals to make the most of the economic boom that is about to hit the Moree Plains by businesses and job seekers doing what they can to put their best foot forward.
"The Moree region is filled with passionate suppliers and amazing talent providing a level of service second to none," she said.
"Locals need to grab this opportunity with both hands - Inland Rail is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
"With the recent announcement of Trans4m Rail as the tier one contractor, it's now crunch time to get involved."
Cr Humphries encourages local suppliers and job seekers to register their interest for one of the three Moree sessions on December 1.
These include:
- Session 1 (7.30am - 9am): Subcontractors and Supply Chain - Project overview, procurement and supply chain opportunities
- Session 2 (10.30am - 12pm): Employment Opportunities and Job Network Providers - Project overview, employment opportunities and process, job network information
- Session 3 (5.30pm - 7pm): Employment, Subcontractors and Supply Chain - Project overview, procurement and supply chain opportunities and process, employment opportunities and process
