But, if it wasn't for a Little Wings flight to receive urgent intensive treatment, the Moree toddler may have lost the use of his hand altogether.
"If we didn't get the support received from Little Wings, and in such an urgent manner, I don't think that Ben would be where he is today," Benny's mother Georgette Lysaght said.
Benny, who is just learning to walk, melted all four fingers and a portion of his thumb when he burnt his hand on a heater earlier this year.
The burn resulted in severe nerve damage which threatened the use of his whole hand if it was not urgently attended too.

So the family were referred to Westmead Children's Hospital.
This is where their Little Wings journey commenced as Georgette, Benny and his big and very protective sister, Brooklyn, travelled to and from Sydney for intensive treatment and interventions.
"There is nothing more stressful than being told you need to get to Westmead Children's Hospital urgently to save your son's hand and not knowing how you're going to get there with a toddler and baby," Georgette said.
"We will be forever grateful for the Little Wings team and their service.
"Little Wings always think of the family needs first, I can't thank them enough for giving us the chance to help our boy.
"I was nervous initially, as it was our first ever flight, but I could not fault this service."
Today, Benny is recovering well but is required to wear a cast for 22-hours per day.
He continues to have monthly treatment at hospital and does daily physiotherapy at home for three hours over three intervals, every day.
It is unknown if feeling in his fingers will ever be restored.
At this point in time Benny is unable to activate sensory motion, but his use of the fingers is slowly building.
Meanwhile, Benny's sister Brooklyn still constantly talks about her plane, "the one with the dragon on it", that saved her brother.
Little Wings is a small charity providing free air and ground transport for seriously ill children residing in regional and rural NSW, giving them access to life-saving medical treatment via the Sydney Children's Hospital Network and John Hunter Children's Hospital.
"Little Wings is a service focused on supporting families in need and at a time when they need it the most," Little Wings CEO Clare Pearson said.
"As an essential service, we are very proud to have continued to service families during the pandemic, working closely with the healthcare system and honouring our commitments to families as they seek the specialist treatment to ensure the wellbeing of their seriously ill child.
"We are honoured to have supported Benny and his family and to be a small part of their journey to recovery."
