The current store opened at Balo Square on November 24, 1980, having previously been located in Balo Street, near Toy World.

Staff reminisced on the milestone by looking back at old photos, and old uniforms while enjoying a special lunch together on the store's 40^th birthday on Tuesday, November 24.

One of the store's longest-serving employees Tracey Moore, who has worked at Coles for 25 years, brought in a collection of her old uniforms to display, including a 1990s-era long-sleeved blue dress.

Julie Harris is Coles' longest-serving employee, who started just two years after Coles moved to Balo Square.

While Julie has been there for 38 years, other long-serving staff include Bobby Moore (30 years) and Donna Cutmore (29 years).

Bronwyn Robinson would have celebrated 39 years at the store this year, however she retired last year.

To celebrate the birthday, staff handed out cupcakes to customers on Tuesday, while $200 worth of vouchers were given out to customers.

Throughout this week, Coles is giving away four $50 vouchers each day. All customers have to do to be eligible to win is to shop in store, where they'll be given a raffle ticket. At the end of each day the raffle is drawn.

Coles Moree manager Chris Marshall thanked the staff and customers for supporting the store over the past 40 years.

"It's a wonderful achievement for a store," he said.

"The store has never looked better.

"All 58 team members do an amazing job."

Mr Marshall said Coles is committed to supporting the local community and charities and thanked deli manager Monique Stevens who is instrumental in fundraising efforts.

Just recently the Moree store led the region in fundraising for sick children who need to spend time at Sydney Children's Hospital. The Moree store raised $3472 through the sale of $2 gift cards.

Also this year they raised money for Daffodil Day, $1000 for breast cancer and $1500 for Motor Neurone Disease research.
