More than six decades of friendship between five Moree girls who met in kindergarten culminated in one big 70th birthday bash recently.

The girls - Susan Pingkee, Carole Carter, Toni Houlahan, Anne Findlay and Glynis Pearce - met when they were in kindergarten at Moree Public School, where they remained friends throughout their school years and into adulthood.
Regardless of their individual life paths, with each of them having travelled far and wide over the years, their extraordinary connection has never been lost and they remain friends to this day.

Last month they took a trip to Byron Bay where they celebrated their 70th birthdays.
None of the women live in Moree any longer, but they each still have strong ties to the town and would be known among locals.
