The two Moree bowling clubs donated $650 to the Mungindi Progress Association's GoFundMe fundraiser for the three Mungindi businesses which were burnt down during a blaze last month.
"It's just to show our appreciation of the toughness they're doing out there in Mungindi," Moree Services Men's Bowling Club's Rod Tighe said.
"The smiles on the kids faces today makes it worth it."
The cheque was presented to Mungindi Central School on Friday, when the high school students were treated to a day out in Moree to play lawn bowls as a wellbeing day following the fire.
"Today is teaching them about teamwork, overcoming adversity and looking after their wellbeing," Mungindi Central School secondary head teacher Karen Barker said.
"We are very appreciative of the men's and women's bowling clubs for having us today and for their donations.
"We'd also like to thank Domino's for providing pizza for lunch today."
School captain Roule Henning was personally impacted by the fire, as she had been undertaking a school-based traineeship at the SPAR Supermarket. Year 10 student Kayleb Szobil was also affected as his dad worked at the supermarket.
And while the other students weren't personally affected, the loss of the three stores has had an impact on the whole community, Ms Barker said.
