The annual event, which is run by League Boxing Inc (NSW), has been held in Sydney the last few years, but with the success of numerous events Moree Boxing Academy has held in Moree, they have been offered this opportunity.
Two Boxing in the Bush events were held last year - one in April and one in October - with Moree's boxers finding lots of success at both fight nights.
The City vs Country is set to be held in March 2021, with each team likely to have between 12 and 16 boxers.
Moree Boxing Academy president Danny Cheetham said it would be a "tremendous opportunity" for the town, as well as a big economic boost.
"All the travelling boxers will have to fuel up and get accommodation," he said.
"To stage such a big event like this we'd need to use the town hall and....the town hall is currently undergoing renovations but [Moree Plains Shire] Council have indicated to us that they are very keen to have the event here in Moree."
Cheetham said council are open to the idea of scheduling the renovations around the event to allow it to go ahead.
The event will also raise funds to allow a NSW boxing team to travel to Queensland for a state of origin night, with the team to be selected based off the City vs Country bouts.
Both the Moree Boxing Academy and Gunnedah's Black 'N' Blue boxing club have been working closely to continue to promote boxing in the region and Cheetham said between both clubs, they could potentially make up half the country team.
"There's some coaches doing some good stuff down in Orange and there's also some good, strong clubs over on the north coast that would be keen to represent country," he said.
"It'll be a great event. It could see the likes of Moree's unbeaten middleweight boxer Stanley Swan taking on the best from the city, along with Moree's NSW featherweight champion Zack Crouch and Moree's Australian female flyweight champion Katie Defraine taking on the best that the city has to offer."
Cheetham is also hoping to see young and upcoming boxers Jack Ross, Connor Williams and Lindsay Vandriest potentially represent the team.
"Moree also has young Zac Hobden who travels from Narrabri three times a week to train with Moree Boxing Academy and we'll be very keen to get him in the country team as well," he said.
"We're very keen to get boxing up and running again in Narrabri as a result of Zac's success."
Cheetham said boxers making it into these representative sides is extremely beneficial for their development.
"Just being around other representative athletes and seeing how they prepare for their own bouts," he said.
"I'm really keen to get some of our senior Moree boxers into these representative teams as part of their development."
Moree Boxing Academy are also planning to hold its annual fundraising tournament on November 25, pending COVID-19 restrictions allows it.
