The Suns didn't taste victory through the entirety of the 2019 but they're back in the winner's circle following a 11-5-71 to 5-16-46 win over the Tamworth Kangaroos in Moree on Saturday.
They got out to a good start with a strong breeze behind their back in the opening quarter, going into the first break with a 4-1-25 to 0-3-3 lead.
The Kangaroos slowly fought back into the contest in the second quarter but struggled to convert their chances while the Suns' efficiency in front of goals meant they took a 6-2-38 to 1-6-12 advantage into half time.
The second half was an evenly fought contest, but again the Kangaroos couldn't convert their inside 50s into points, kicking four goals to 10 behinds while the Suns continued their accurate kicking with another five goals to take home the 25-point win.

"The boys played really well on the weekend," Suns coach Ashley Jones said.
"They were hitting their targets well and not over using the footy.
"We played our game of football and slowed the play down when needed which was great to see.
"Skills have definitely improved over the past few weeks with some stronger numbers at training."
Branden Barker had another standout game for the Suns in a best on ground performance, playing off the half back line while also spending some time in the ruck.
"Zach Collier also defended strong at fullback for us, taking a decent amount of intercept marks," Jones said.
"He's reading the footy really well back there for us at the moment.
"Adrian Smith on the wing had another great game and created a lot of space for himself and our boys took advantage of that and delivered him a lot of clean footy too which was great to see."
The Suns will be back at home this weekend to take on the New England Nomads.
The Nomads are coming off a 145-point loss to the Swans but Jones won't be taking them lightly despite that result.
"We will definitely have to work on our defensive pressure and contested marking this weekend against the Nomads," Jones said.
"They are normally a very fast paced side so if our pressure isn't there will be on the back foot."
The Suns weren't able to find the same success in the club's other matches on the weekend.
The under-17s kicked off their 2020 season with a 14-16-100 to 2-0-12 loss to the Tamworth Roosters while the women also went down 23-16-154 to 2-0-12 to the Swans in Tamworth.
The under-17s will travel to Glen Innes to take on the Celts this Saturday while the women face off against the Gunnedah Bulldogs in Moree.
