Truck snaps two powerpoles, leaving chunk of Moree in the dark

A chunk of Moree was left in the dark on Friday morning, after a truck ran into two powerpoles in Alice Street, near the roundabout at the Caltex Service Station.

Just after 8am on Friday, July 3, a road train hit the powerpole while coming into the back of Bridgestone Service Centre from Alice Street, snapping it out of the ground.

It also managed to snap off the powerpole on the opposite side of the road, outside Jellicoe Park.

As a result of the accident, 110 customers have been left without power in the surrounding vicinity.

Essential Energy crews have been at the scene, working to fix the broken powerpoles and restore power.

Alice Street is closed to traffic between the Frome Street roundabout and Dover Street, while the powerpoles are being fixed.

It is estimated that the power will return at 4pm on Friday.
