Homicide Squad detectives have charged a man and raided homes in Moree as part of murder investigation into the death of Vergel Velasquez in Sydney's west last year.

Detectives raided three homes in Moree on Thursday morning, as part of the ongoing homicide probe.
During the searches, officers seized mobiles phones and a number of items they claim are relevant to the investigation.
A 49-year-old man was arrested and taken to Moree police station on Thursday where he was charged with accessory after the fact for wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Police will allege in court that the man was the driver of the vehicle seen leaving the Girraween unit block after the assault of Mr Velasquez in December last year.
He was refused bail to appear at Moree Local Court on Friday.
Homicide detectives have been in Moree on and off for several weeks as part of the murder probe.
The charges were laid after investigations initially led detectives to Moree on April 27 when a getaway car was seized. Then, in early May when 42 mobile phones were seized during a separate raid.
Investigations have been ongoing since Mr Velasquez was found with severe head injuries in the stairwell of a Girraween complex in Sydney on December 30 last year.
He died in a Sydney hospital the next day.
