On Wednesday, Health Minister Greg Hunt urged Australians to get their flu shots this month to provide the greatest protection against influenza this year.
"Vaccinating against the flu will reduce the risk of a very dangerous double-up of flu and coronavirus - both diseases affecting the respiratory system," he said.
"Fewer cases and fewer severe cases of flu will result in less demand on our health care system."

As a result of this advice, local medical centres have fielded hundreds of calls from people looking to get their jabs now.
However, the delivery of flu vaccines only just commenced this week, so most medical centres do not have any in stock yet, including Associate Medical Practice and Gwydir Medical Centre.
Both practices wish to advise patients that it could be another two to three weeks before they receive a batch of vaccinations.
When they do arrive, Associate Medical Practice plans on running full-day clinics via the back door of the building to be compliant with the current COVID-19 social distancing and infection control measures.
Meanwhile, Pius X Aboriginal Corporation received its first batch of vaccines on Thursday and ran two clinics for Aboriginal clients on Friday.
However, after administering 500 flu shots on Friday, had to turn people away due to the overwhelming response.
Pius X will update the community when the next batch arrives.
Eyra Medical and Skin Clinic Moree has also received its first batch of vaccinations and ran its first Flu Shot Friday clinic last week.
It is running its second clinic on Friday, April 17 but only for active patients of Eyra Medical. The no-touch clinic will be by appointment only, with both free government and commercial vaccinations available.
The local clinic is also one of the first GP clinics in Australia to offer in-clinic COVID-19 15-minute testing kits.
