Sharyn Cox has replaced long-serving former principal Adrian King, who left the school at the end of 2018, but only officially finished up in December. Lindy Hosegood acted as relieving principal throughout 2019.
Ms Cox, originally from Sydney, comes to Moree from her previous post as principal of Goulburn Public School, which she held for three years.
Prior to that she was the instruction leader at Coonabarabran Public School.

Ms Cox said she loved working at Coonabarabran, so when the opportunity at Moree came up, she jumped at the chance to return to a rural community.
"Being at a rural place like Coonabarabran, the opportunities were great," she said.
"And the advantage of living rurally, where you are part of the community, you don't get that at bigger places. That sense of belonging is more transparent in the country."
As principal of Moree Public School, Ms Cox said she hopes to build on the already strong traditions and values that have been long-established at the school.
"They are amazing," she said.
"I want to continue the high expectations and for children and families to advocate for themselves and look for opportunities and be ready to take them when they present."
Ms Cox has been enjoying settling in to the school over the past month and is slowly getting to know the staff and 500-strong student body, who she hopes to develop strong relationships with.
"Relationships are key," she said.
She said she's loving her time at Moree Public so far.
"It is a beautiful place to be," she said.
"I don't know of any other school I've been to that is as beautiful as this school.
"There are some dynamic, future-focussed leaders working in the school to get it like this. It doesn't happen by accident.
"The students are engaged and happy to be at school and the parents are so welcoming and friendly."
