A wanted man who was found in a ceiling was one of three people arrested during a police operation in Mungindi over the weekend.

The 29-year-old man, who was wanted in connection with a number of rural theft offences allegedly committed in NSW and Queensland, was charged with a number of offences after he allegedly led police on two pursuits in stolen vehicles.
Officers from the New England Police District pursued an allegedly stolen Holden Commodore through Mungindi at about 4am on Saturday, February 22 before travelling south on the Carnarvon Highway towards Moree at more than 150 kilometres per hour.
Police terminated the pursuit due to safety concerns and later found the vehicle burned out on a rural property at 10.20am.

At 11.20am the same day, officers pursued another allegedly stolen Holden Commodore on Morialta Road, Mungindi. The pursuit continued onto the Carnarvon Highway before the Commodore left the roadway and stopped between two trees.
Police saw a number of offenders fleeing the scene on foot and commenced a large-scale search of the area, which continued through the night, with the help of the Rural Crime Prevention Team and the Dog Unit.
At 1.50pm on Sunday, police found the 29-year-old man hiding in a ceiling cavity at a home in Campbell Street, Mungindi.
He was arrested and charged with two outstanding warrants for rural theft offences in NSW and a revocation of parole (firearms theft), take and drive conveyance and break, enter and steal. The man was bail refused and attended Moree Local Court on Monday, February 24. He will be dealt with for offences allegedly committed in Queensland at a later date.
Police also arrested a 26-year-old man at the same property, after finding a firearm barrel and receiver during a search. He was charged with possessing an unregistered firearm, possessing an unauthorised firearm and not keeping a firearm safely. He was granted conditional bail to attend Mungindi Local Court on April 22.
A 29-year-old woman was also arrested in relation to outstanding arrest warrants at a house in Short Street, Mungindi on Saturday morning.
New England Police District Commander, Superintendent Scott Tanner thanked the residents of Mungindi who were instrumental in assisting with the apprehension of the wanted man, going "above and beyond" to support police in their air and land search.
"The residents of Mungindi have again proved themselves with immense dedication and community spirit to assist us in ensuring the safety of their community," he said.
"We are both proud and thankful of their ongoing support.
"Mungindi is only a small town but it is mighty."
