There were only a few tears as students said goodbye to their loved ones on Friday morning, but by the time The Moree Champion came to visit later that morning, the new kinders were all smiles and settling in beautifully.
The new students were already familiar with the school routine, which helped them settle in quickly on their first official day, thanks to Moree East's transition program.
Last year the program began in term three, with the 2020 kindergarten students doing two half days a week, before coming to school for two full days every week throughout term four.
"It takes out the anxiety for them," principal Lorinda Potter said.
This year there are 29 bright-eyed students in kindergarten, split into two classes taught by Sophie Dowsett and Ian Acorn.
Moree East's kindergarten students were the last to start school in Moree. Moree Christian School's kinders began on Tuesday, while St Philomena's and Moree Public School kindergarten students started on Thursday.
