Three local community groups have received a boost after receiving financial assistance from Moree Plains Shire Council's Unallocated Community Funding Budget.

At its meeting on Thursday, January 23, Council moved that Serendipity, Moree Show Society and Moree RSL Sub-Branch will each receive $3,000 to go towards various projects in town.
Serendipity's funding will go towards two concerts they hope to host in 2020; the first being a Disney Musical theme and the second a Christmas around the World performance. The $3,000 will help cover the cost of venue hire.

Moree Show Society's financial assistance will go towards the 2020 Moree Show which will be held on April 24 to 25, with sponsorship likely to be reduced due to the ongoing drought.
The final $3,000 was given to Moree RSL Sub-Branch to paint a World War I memorial mural on the wall of Harvey Norman on Balo Street.
The mural feature a memorial of Australian Defence Force men and women to acknowledge their sacrifice and remember them.
"This is directly opposite our town hall," councillor and Moree RSL Sub-Branch member John Tramby said at Thursday's meeting.
"It will hopefully bring people into our town. It will be a very artistic layout with great detail."
