Children learn how to stay safe on the road at Birrang's Aboriginal Bike Safety Workshop

Around 10 children learned some of the key guidelines to follow to ensure they remain safe while riding a bike on Wednesday at the Aboriginal Bike Safety Workshop at PCYC Moree.

Birrang Enterprise Development Company has been travelling around the state, delivering the workshop in various regional towns.

The program covers how to ride on the road safely and emphasises the importance of always wearing a helmet when riding a bike.

Children also learn to always look out for cars and to ride on the footpath whenever possible. Riders 16 and under are allowed to ride on the footpath, as well as adults who are riding with children.

If they are on the road, the program encourages children to always ride on the side of the road.

The workshop stopped in Boggabilla and Toomelah on Tuesday and will move on to Wee Waa, Narrabri and back to Boggabilla for the rest of this week.
