Running from 10am to 12pm at PCYC Moree, the workshop will cover riding on the road safely and the correct fitting of helmets, as well as bike maintenance and other safety procedures to follow.

It's mainly aimed at young people but the workshop is open to anyone who is interested in learning how to be safer on the road.

"People can just turn up. We're not sitting in a classroom or making it too official," Birrang projects manager Adam Gollan said.

"Kids don't want to come and sit in a classroom and sit through a slideshow."

Mr Gollan said they will try to get the children moving, with bikes and skateboards available to use on the day.

"The biggest thing for kids really, especially 12 and under, is to use a footpath if you can," he said.

Mr Gollan said they already have eight confirmed for the workshop, but anyone is able to turn up on the day.

"I just hope we can at least get them doing the road rules and being polite to people on the footpaths and wearing a helmet," he said.
